So a few days ago, I finished reading Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen, and I wanted to write about my thoughts on it. It’s been a few days, so I’m a little worried that I’ve forgotten parts that I wanted to write about… well, here goes.

College applications are done and sent. Today’s the last day of Winter Vacation. It’s regrettable, but I think once I go back to school it won’t be so bad. My puppy is coming on Wednesday this week! :) I’ve been looking forward to this so much. His name’s Godzilla. Anyway, I haven’t been doing much studying, and I haven’t done ANY of my homework which is really bad since school starts tomorrow. ;A; I’ll have to work hard today.

I’ve been working a lot on my granny-octagon blanket and now it’s significantly larger than it was previously!! Seeing it spread out on the floor in my room makes me really happy. Here’s a picture of what it looks like now.

and here‘s what it looked like last time I showed an update. I ran out of red yarn, so I didn’t work on it for quite a while. But then I took a trip to Michael’s and went yarn crazy!! I don’t buy a lot of matching yarn, so the weight of the yarns are all kind of different, but I don’t really mind. I think it makes it feel more home made. :) A lot of the yarn was on sale, so I bought quite a bit.

The biggest red yarn package

I’m not sure what i’m going to use all this yarn for since they don’t really match the colors of my blanket, but I’ll figure something out. :) I also ran out of pink and yellow yarn for my blanket, but then I found little bits in different shades. This blanket is so crazy colored!!! But that’s okay! :) It’s become yarn mania in my room, but it’s not that bad haha. In other news, I opened a new skein of my orange yarn but I couldn’t find the inside string, so I just unraveled the whole skein and wound it into a ball. :( One of these days I’ll catalog all of the yarn I have. Coming soon!! :D

I finally finished reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen! It took quite a few months since reading on my iphone is a little hard, but once I borrowed my sister’s copy of the book, I read it like the speed of lightning! The book is a little hard to get into, but once you get about halfway through, it starts getting really interesting and you can’t stop. The ending of the book was so happy, I was so glad for all of the Bennet girls! Except maybe Lydia haha.

I also read Keeping the Moon, a book by Sarah Dessen that I bought a while ago second hand, but never got around to reading. I have to admit, it’s not as good as the other Sarah Dessen books I’ve read. It was a very quick read though. I read the whole thing in one day. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t what I was expecting from Sarah Dessen to say the least.

Since it’s a new year, there’s also a new Reading Challenge!! :) Last year I started my challenge of 15 books, then when I finished, changed it to 18 and finally ended up reading 20 books. :) I was never much of a reading until recently, so having goodreads and keeping track of my progress makes me really excited. My goal for this year is to read 30 books. I think I can do it easily. I’ve already finished two books and I’m working on another two right now. and the ebooks available for free help motivate me to actually read some of the classics.

Well, I’ve got to get on with the day, so I’ll just post some more pictures of my blanket. :)

this is my favorite octagon in the blanket.

Why hello there!! It’s been so long since I last wrote here and for that I feel bad. :( Writing on my blog is fun, but I just haven’t felt up to writing a real and good post so let’s try now.

Christmas Eve is today! It came so fast. I feel like I need at least a few more days. I actually didn’t get any presents for anyone in my family! ;A; Guilty feelings. It can’t be helped though I guess. I had a surgery on the 15th which was supposed to be very simple and easy. The doctors said that I would be feeling fine and almost fully recovered by a week, but it wasn’t as easy as it seemed. Bad reactions to tape, stitches, drugs, and here I am more than a week after the surgery still feeling like crap. :( So this past week while all of my classmates were studying hard for finals, I was confined to a reclining chair in the living room watching tv and playing video games. While that doesn’t sound very bad at all, it was quite boring and I can’t wait until I can finally go out on my own again. This is Christmas Vacation! I have places to go and people to see! Well not really, but I’d like to be able to go to starbucks or someplace and visit with my friends. ;A;

I finished reading Trickster’s Queen today. SPOILER![highlight to read] I was expecting Dove to be queen from the beginning of the first book. I knew Sarai wouldn’t be a good queen, but I was very surprised when she decided to run away and get married. Who knew! Anyway, I felt that Aly was stupidly lovesick for Nawat the whole time, but once they got back together it was sweet. Until people were watching them sleep together. That was just awkward. The ending was very abrupt to me and I couldn’t actually envision the battles in the city very well, but maybe that’s just me since I don’t read many action/warring books. Overall, I think I liked the first book a lot better even though not very much even happened in the first book. It just made more sense to me I suppose. I felt like all of a sudden Aly got very old, but she’s still only 17! And the epilogue was terrible….  Wayyyy too abrupt. But ohwell. I still liked it XD

I have an urge to read/watch all of the Lord of the Rings books/movies. I like the medieval setting. I’ve been playing a lot of this game called Dragon Age: Origins. Typical Lord of the Rings ripoff game, but very fun! There are six different starting settings that you can play through. I picked a Dalish Elf which is an elf that lives in like a roaming tribe. The story is very complicated and there’s a lot of talking which is a little annoying, but the story is good. My sister picked a human mage. I’ve probably played too much hahah but it’s fun so OHWELL. :)

I’m also playing DragonVale on my iphone. It’s cute and fun. Lots of waiting though :P If anyone wants to be game center friends, leave me a comment so I can add you! I want friends. lol

Let’s see, I haven’t been doing any crocheting which is regrettable. :( and I wrote a post card to my friend like 2 weeks ago, but never mailed it. ;A; I’m bad at getting my letters to the mailbox apparently… The best way to get into the Christmas Spirit though, is to watch Elf! It’s such a cute movie and Will Ferrell is not so gross for once. I was really surprised when I found out that the main female role was played by Zooey Deschanel. She looks completely different with blond hair. but I don’t really like her very much lol.

Still working on my college applications. :( I have two left but I don’t think my parents know that oops. Almost done with one, and haven’t started the other. ;A; I don’t have any motivation anymore!! I’ve actually been accepted to two colleges already, but I haven’t told many people because my classmates expect a lot out of me for some reason and the stress is definitely unwanted. We’ll see. I don’t actually want to go to these schools that I have left, but I feel guilty for not applying to many schools. 6 done so far, 2 left…

I’m so tired of being sick and taking so much medicine. I hope that I can get better soon. That’s what I really want for Christmas. ;A; BUT Christmas is fun and wonderful. Lots of people give my parents presents so we got a lot of yummy Christmas cookies! I still have cookies to make, but I don’t think I’ll give them to my friends. One of my friends isn’t very considerate, so I never know what to give her for presents. She always gives my presents to her sister. ;A; And last time I gave her cookies, she gave them to my friend who I already gave cookies to when I was right there! sadface. Ohwell, I guess I’ll somehow think of something.

Merry Christmas everyone!! I’ll try to post again soon! :)

I decided to break up the post into two because it really is two completely unrelated topics…

Today hasn’t been a very good day, but I wanted to write something on here since I haven’t written in a long time.

So back to the main purpose of this post. I’m not feeling very well today. Piercing stomach ache since I woke up. :( I skipped my last class today and went home to sleep for two hours. I felt a little better, but once I started moving again, the pain came back. I hope I’ll be better tomorrow though. I don’t like missing school. When I woke up, I was really sad because it hurt and stuff, so I wrote about it. It’s kind of depressing, so I don’t think I’ll post it now at least.

On a lighter note, there is this one person, that when I read their blog, it just makes me really happy. They write about books and reading, and it’s very romantic. Not in the romance and love sense, but in the dreamer’s sense. I really admire their blog and I always want to comment and just say, ” I REALLY LIKE THIS POST! ” But that’d be on pretty much every post, so that’d be very embarrassing. So for now, I suppose I’ll just admire from afar.

I have tons of homework to do now, so I better get started!

I’d say that I’ll post about my vacation with pictures later, but I know I won’t. So instead I’ll do a summary sin pictures. I went to Vermont for Thanksgiving Break. We took a red-eye flight Monday night, picked my sisters up at their schools, then drove four hours to our resort-hotel place. It was very nice. Possibly the fluffiest bed I have ever slept on. Scratch that. Definitely the fluffiest. It snowed Tuesday night and most of Wednesday. The second time that I have seen it snow. <3 I went skiing a few times when I was young, but it only snowed the first time we went. I discovered that snowflakes actually do look like the ones that people draw. It was great. We went to the Ben & Jerry’s icecream factory which was pretty cool. I never actually ate Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream before, but it was really yummy. They’re very eco friendly and socially conscious which was nice to know. I really loved how the whole factory was decorated in a really cute and cartoon-y way. We got to try the Milk and Cookies flavor. It was surprisingly delicious.

We spent a lot of time watching movies in the hotel room. Transformers 3 was surprisingly boring. X-men First Class was really good and interesting. I don’t know much about X-men, so it was fun to learn during the movie. Captain America was a movie that I’d been wanting to watch for a while, so I’m glad I got to see it. We also watched 17 again because it was on TV. It’s such a cute movie but a lot of it is REALLY awkward!! Finally, we rewatched Harry Potter 7 part 1 and I finally got to see part 2! It was very confusing. I’m feeling slightly motivated to read the books. We’ll see if that ever actually happens.

I read the book I bought recently, Trickster’s Choice by Tamora Pierce, one of my favorite authors ever! It was very good. Not a lot of action though, and I felt like the main character didn’t do a whole lot. But I still couldn’t put it down! Needless to say, I got the next book, Trickster’s Queen, out of the library almost immediately. But alas, it’s a long book and I don’t have 6 hours on an airplane to just sit and read straight, so I’m worried I won’t get time to finish it. :( I’ve heard that it’s more exciting than the last book, so I’m looking forward to it.

I feel so listless today! I just can’t bring myself to do any of my homework or anything else even remotely useful. Today I’m drinking Harney & Sons Paris Tea. I’ve had this tea for a long time, but I rarely ever drink it, I completely forgot what it tasted like! I like to keep a fresh pot of tea around to warm my hands on chilly days like today.

I have to read Oedipus The King for class. It’s a sad story. I’ve read part of it before, but this is my first time reading the whole thing. I think after I write this I’ll finish my physics homework then snuggle up in bed and read the play.

I was just thinking today about how much I miss my digital photography class that I took last year. I wonder if my teacher misses me at all. Probably not though. I don’t think he liked my photos very much.

Anyway, I logged into my flickr account(which hasn’t been touched since June!) to look at my photos, but I couldn’t even remember my log in! I had to look it up. silly me!

click through for the flickr page!

This is one of my favorite pictures. :) I think I took this around February last year. I wouldn’t mind visiting that cafe again for this hot chocolate! It was delicious! Looking back, I really miss the hours I got to spend editing pictures. It was very relaxing. Most of the pictures on my Flickr look nothing like what I actually took a picture of. I loved watching the photos transform into flawless scenes!

Well, I hope you all are having a lovely Sunday. I’m off to do more work! :) I hope you all find some inspiration every day!!

Today I’m drinking Decaf Carol tea, again from Lupicia. The flavor is fruity because of the strawberry ingredients and it tastes really nice warm or cold. I’m also eating some Pillsbury cookies that I made last night.(I wouldn’t buy from this website, but I just wanted to show what I was talking about!) I admit, I’m lazy, so I don’t make cookies from scratch, but it was definitely strange baking cookies from a sausage-like wrapper. But they turned out really yummy! Probably the best cookies I’ve eaten in a while. Definitely crispy cookies. Not soft cookies.

This morning my mom and I went to Japantown in San Jose for the Japanese American Museum of San Jose Winter Boutique. Its always nice to visit Japantown since we don’t get to visit very often. There was a lot of nice stuff there, and a LOT of spam musubi everywhere! to eat, to wear, to put your blanket in, it was a spam musubi lover’s heaven!

Right when we walked into the community center where the Boutique was, there was a wonderful stall with all sorts of handcrafted goods! Cross stitch coasters, quilted wallets, knit blankets, and crocheted pot holders! There were even a few granny square blankets, which I’m totally in love with! Here are the spoils of our conquest!

I love the intricate designs! I sat for about 10 minutes when we got home just examining the circles! I definitely want to try to make something of this kind. I think it’s just wonderful!

After we finished looking around,(there wasn’t much else that was exciting there. Just a few pins and tshirts really) My mom and I went to our favorite dango shop and bought a bunch of sweets to take home. Then we stopped at Nijiya grocery store to get a bunch of sushi and fish to take home for lunch. :) The saba was super yummy. One of my favorite things! :D

saving them for later! :) Well, I’m off to refill my teacup and maybe write the beginnings of an essay. I’m feeling fueled to crochet more and finish my blanket! This week for sure I’m going to go see if I can get some more red yarn. :)

Keep warm! ♥
